CIBTAC Level 3 Certificate In The Principles Of Cosmetic Practice
The CIBTAC Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Cosmetic Practice is aimed at preparing Learners to enter the beauty therapy sector with a view to progressing to Level 4 study in aesthetic treatments and may also be of interest to those wishing to extend their Level 2 study. The units within this qualification have been mapped to the National Occupational Standards and relate specifically to the job role of a beauty therapist.
This course includes:
Health And Safety
The unit is about the individual’s ability to monitor and maintain health and safety practice within a working salon/spa environment. Learners will improve their knowledge of health and safety and develop supervisory skills to enable them to carry out carry out risk assessments and monitor health and safety issues in the salon.
Client Care
The consultation procedure is an essential part of any treatment in terms of building Client confidence and relationships and as such an effective and thorough approach to the consultation process lies at the heart of all good treatments. A thorough knowledge by the therapist, of a variety of methods of communicating and providing Client care is required, along with an essential understanding of how to evaluate the information gained and formulate recommendations. This unit will enable the Learner to develop their consulting skills and gain a deeper understanding of effective Client care. The Learner will also need to understand the importance of portraying a professional image in both appearance and conduct.
Skin Analysis And Assessment
The basis of all good skin analysis lies in a complete knowledge by the Therapist of the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated, coupled with a thorough understanding of the abilities and functions of skincare products. This unit will enable the Learner to prepare for and provide skin analysis to meet the needs of the Client, whilst working in a safe and secure manner. This unit will assist in providing understanding of the organisational skills required, and technical processes and procedures involved in providing skin analysis. It will provide the foundation knowledge required to enable the Learner to identify possible contra-indications to treatment, as well as how to assess the Client’s skin to determine the skin type, skin conditions, and the best course of treatment to meet the Client’s individual needs. Learners will develop their understanding of the various skin types and conditions.
Beauty Therapy Science
This unit will provide all of the necessary underpinning knowledge of electrical science, chemistry and physics to enable Learners to understand the natural and physical science behind electrical beauty therapy treatments.
Anatomy And Physiology (For Skin Treatments)
The basis of all confident and competent therapy treatments lies in a complete knowledge by the therapist of all the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated and an understanding of if, and how, they will be affected by treatment application.
