The aim of the Focus Awards Level 4 Award in Investigative Consultation and Advanced Skin Assessment (RQF) is to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to carry out investigative consultations and advanced skin analysis, and to be able to understand and identify different skin types and conditions.is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required for safe aesthetic practice. 
Age Ranges
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 18 to undertake this qualification. Geographical Coverage: This qualification is available in England and Northern Ireland.
Learner Entry Requirements
Learners should be competent in literacy and numeracy to help with elements of communication. This is at the discretion of the centre as they may decide to use diagnostic testing methods to ascertain how they can support learners.
Learners must have previously completed and achieved an anatomy and physiology qualification at a minimum of Level 3.

Explain how to prepare for an advanced skin analysis and investigative consultation
Analyse required information and questions to ask a client when conducting an advanced skin analysis and investigative consultation
Explain how to conduct a manual test and observational analysis

Compare classification scales
Explain the importance of a treatment plan
Explain the importance of questioning the client
Evaluate consultation techniques
Explain the implications of confidentiality and data protection legislation for the collection, storage and use of customer information 1.13 Explain the documents required when carrying out an advanced skin analysis and investigative consultation
Explain how to analyse information provided following an advanced skin analysis and investigative consultation
Explain the process and importance of patch testing 1.16
Explain contraindications that affect or restrict treatments and the reasons why
Explain age restriction requirements
Explain the importance of informed consent
Understand skin types and conditions and summarise specific characteristics of the skin
Evaluate the implications of skin types for clinical aesthetic treatments
Explain the importance of Zonal analysis
Explain ways to identify skin conditions
Analyse secondary skin conditions and their characteristics
Summarise visual alterations of skin aging

Explain how free radicals affect the skin
